Boars and Trolls - New plastic O&G models available for advance order from GW.

BLARRGGHH! Plastic vomit ahoy! GW just added the new plastic Boar Boyz and River Troll models to their advance orders page. Most exciting! I've been waiting awhile for the plastic Troll sprues to help me make my WoC Throgg/Troll/Monster army and from what I have seen things look good. Take a look at the sprues:

While there does appear to be a lot of "river" and not enough "troll" in these plastics I have to say I am pretty happy with the overall look of the models. It also appears as if the fins and river bits can be left off the main body to allow for other Troll creations.

And if plastic vomit isn't your thing perhaps you'll be more interested in plastic boars that don't look like old and outdated?
Boars! Just in time for anyone looking to make some Razorgor or Tuskgor chariots perhaps? The faces are a bit odd on the boar models but I think a lot of it comes down to their new paintjob. I'll be interested to see these new models up close and on the table. What do you think?

The boars' heads do look a bit cartoonish in their beady eyes but what I like best about them is they are dynamic. Until you mentioned it I hadn't thought about the river troll aspect being a bit overpowering but with the fins and fish grabbing hand taken out they should be spiffy. They should make great daemon princes and nurgle marked ogres.

I agree with Adriel on the dynamic poses, finally we no longer have to chop off the legs of our old boars to keep them from looking like they're out on a stroll.

Finally a reason to field river trolls in my army! Woo!

Also, feel free to read my impressions on the new releases at Part of the reason why they went river trolls instead of regular trolls (like the BfSP box) could be that they're the only trollish type that's worth taking an upgrade on. Also, the old stone troll models are still appreciated since they're one of the finest sculps ever produced for the O&G range.

Feel free to read my impression at http://trollhoer.blogspot.com/2010/04/new-o-releases.html, of course I've redirected back to you here Randroid. Cheers.

I find it interesting that these boars looks so odd, and yet the plastic boar with the multi-part 'Orc Warlord' model looked terrific. Don't get me wrong, these new boars are very dynamic, but the just don't seem bulky enough. At least for my tastes.

@ Adriel: The Boars look a bit like Alf in the face. I can't wait to see what people come up with from the Troll kit.

@ Trollhoer: I always read your posts - you're in my blogroll! It is interesting that these River Trolls are quite a bit different from the plastic Stone Trolls.. I like both but you're right about the Stone Troll models. They are nice... but pricey!

@ inanecourage: I'm with you on the bulk. Would have been nice to see a bit beefier boar. Or would that be piggier? Hoggier?

@ Adrian: Thanks! I try to post as often as I can. Right now I have a new post at least once a week but I like to shoot for 2 to 3 times a week. It just depends on what it going on in my life and the world of WHFB.
