Progress Report 10/2/13 - Taking It To The Streets.

I win KUBBL. Everyone quits playing!? Looks like our league will perhaps be taking a "break". In the meantime I hope to run a small Streetbowl league because... why not!? To that end I started building a Streetbowl pitch. Here is what I got done.

Step 1: Cut out lots of 25mm squares for spaces/cobblestones/tiles
Step 2: Cuss and cut foamcore, then glue squares to board
Step 3: Cuss when the board starts to bow a bit as it dries
Right now I am flattening the board and working on the street walls which will have a raised stone/brick texture on them. Having a lot of fun working on this and I hope it turns out great! In the meantime... what team should I try running in a Streetbowl league? I am thinking Khemri or Lizardmen would be fun.

Good start on the Streetbowl board.

I know how you feel, with the game 'hiatus'. Same thing happens to me. I finally get somewhere with a game, and then everyone moves on. Happened with Necromunda.

Foam core is a pain: it can bow over time, especially when gluing something to a surface.

Here's a trick from having worked as a picture framer: if gluing something to one side of foam core, glue the other side too: can just glue butcher paper to the back. the tension of the glue on both sides will help keep the foam core straight, or mostly.

it is definitely looking cool so far

Looks great! Congrats on the KUB Championship. You're not alone, my only KUB championship was followed up by an abbreviated season then a break. But we got back going! We'll get there again. Looking forward to Street Ball in the meantime.

I love using foamcore for raised brick or cobblestone work. Heres a series of posts I did with it: http://mdarrow.blogspot.com/search/label/Foam%20Core

Here's another super useful tutorial that would probably get even better results for less work(I have yet to try it though):http://davidneat.wordpress.com/2013/01/18/making-relief-patterning-tools-using-sculpey/

Can't wait to see how it turns out!

Woah - thanks for all the feedback!

@inanecourage - Funny the other thing to fill the gap is Necromunda? Oh well...

@Ferret - Great insight and that is exactly what I did to remedy the issue!! I hope the walls will help keep it straight too.

@Furry - Aha! I should have known it was a plot from a certain "multiple championships" contingent in the league!

@Mattias - Thanks for the useful links! Particularly the second site which has all kinds of useful stuff.
