Progress Report 8/31/13 - And... check.

Today is the day... the last one of August!? What the heck? Where does the time go?

In between work and the atrocities inflicted upon me by my own body (aka summer allergies) I haven't managed to get too much painting done in the last week or so. I did pretty much finish up my Chaos Cup Legacy Team entry (minus the base), got my gaming table finished up, and suddenly a team of RATS appeared in the house and were stuck to bases. Next up... CHAOS CUP 2013.

In the meantime we have pictures. Last one if my dog Remy having a little allergic freak out of his own. We itch!!!

Progress Report 8/23/13 - August Among Us.

Dear neglected blog,

It has been some time since my last entry. In the meantime I have painted a miniature for commission, finished my Orc Blood Bowl team, worked on terrain and a tabletop for my new gaming table setup, and spent time painting my entry in the Chaos Cup Legacy Team. Oh and I also went undefeated in the regular KUBBL season and hope to win the upcoming playoffs and final.

Pictures! They speak a bunch of words or so I am told.

New 4' x 4' table with a quick-fix top. May do a fancier one in the future.
Texture and terrain on the boards. These are painted now.
A commission for this small Gnome Sorcerer.
First time painting pink and this much purple.
Orc blitzers! Rar!!
Dems da Black Orc boyz!
Lineorcs, Troll, and Thrower! No gobbo yet.
Chaos Cup Dark Elf Witch entry wip front.
Chaos Cup Dark Elf Witch entry wip back.
Still itching to paint more of my Necro gang and have had random hankerings to get my WHFB back out and freshened up. We'll see how the next few months treat me. Busy times!

Beer Review - Sierra Nevada Narwhal Imperial Stout

Sierra Nevada Brewing Company - Narwhal Imperial Stout

Beer Type: Russian Imperial Stout - 10.20% ABV

Appearance: 12oz black/brown bottle with a nice narwhal image and a classy font. Beer poured a dark (dark!) black. Just black. A tiny bit of brown head quickly faded but leaves nice lacing on the glass.

Smell: First up is the dark chocolate smells followed by some roasted coffee and some hops in there as well. And just a hint of the high ABV too.

First Drink: A lot of dark malt flavor here followed up with a nice bit of hops bite and something not unlike the bitter taste of black licorice (without the anise/licorice flavor... does that make sense?).

Mouthfeel: A thick beer with a bit of carbonation but not a lot. A little sticky on the palate.

Last Drink: Just lots and lots of roasted malt flavors! Dark chocolate, coffee, a tad bit of toffee, then just a hint of hops and a big bitter finish.

Drinkability: I've come a long way on liking dark beers and this one is right up there for me.

Notes: Limited edition and I only manged to score one four pack this year! It was the last one at the "friendly local beer store" so here's hoping I see it again next time around.

Verdict: 4.75 out of 5. A lot of dark roasted malt flavor levels going on here. A good beer for sippin' as you plunge beneath the depths...

KUBBL 5 - Week 4: Glade Running away...

Damn dirty Wood Elves!! They were too slippery to splat effectively and we almost lost with a tie due to their crazy Agility! Lucky for the KRB the eyes of Khorne were watching and allowed a few timely armor breaks and KO rolls to even up the score and give the Khorne R'Backs the win.

Going into this game the KRB roster looked similar to this (except with some dead weight and a lack of Guard):

Glade Runner took A Wizard, Halfling Chef, 2 x Wandering Apoth, 2 x BB, and a RR before kicking off to Khorne R'Backs. Though they tried hard to crush the elf magic of the Glade Runner the minions of Khorne only managed several KO before scoring on Turn 8 of the first half. Glade Runner finished the half with a pass for SPP.

Khorne R'Backs kick to Glade Runner going into the second half, who get a quick snap, and use their elf agility and speed to quickly score on turn 2 of the half. The Glade Runner kick to the Khorne R'Backs who fumble the ball around a bit before smacking down an elf and taking it back with Wobbledog breaking away from the elf bad touch to win the game 2-1.

Lots and lots and lots of 6s and 7s were rolled on 2d6 and very little was done in terms of casualties.
