Heavy Seas - Loose Cannon (Hop3 Ale)
Beer Type: American IPA
Appearance: Six pack of 12 oz. brown bottles with a purple label and nautical/pirate themed art. Beer poured a pale yellow with a nice frothy thick head.
Smell: Hops in the front! Both a piney smell and a more sweet/floral variety coming through as well. A bit of malt in the aroma as well but the focus here is the hops.
First Drink: Bright citrus hoppy flavors followed quickly by the green pine hops and mellow malt.
Mouthfeel: Medium body with a nice crisp finish. Feels good to drink.
Last Drink: Getting some other fruits now.. apples? Less of the citrus that came through at first. Plenty of hops but there is very little in the way of bitter flavors.
Drinkability: A great one bottle or pint drink but don't go for two or three! The intense hops flavor ruins the rest.
Notes: First beer from this brewery and it is quite unique. Looking forward to trying more of their beers. I liked this beer after one, but subsequent bottles quickly ruined the experience. For one drink it's a good and interesting one.
Verdict: 3.75 out of 5. Lots of interesting things going on here but the intense hops keeps me from drinking (and really getting into) a lot of this beer.

A man with similar interests, the only thing I like more than minis is beer and the occasional lady, but they don't sell ladies in six packs.
